Cadets - Flight Progression



Every new Cadet at Squadron 44 begins his or her basic training in Tango Flight (the Cadet Basic Training Flight). Once Cadets complete all requirements to graduate from Tango, they progress to Bravo or Charlie Flight. Then, as Cadets reach a specified grade and skill level, they finally progress to Alpha Flight. Below are descriptions of what each Cadet must accomplish in order to progress to the next flight.

ALPHA FLIGHT (NCO Training Flight)

 ALPHA FLIGHT ENTRY AND EXPECTATIONS

1. Bravo and Charlie Flight cadets must hold the grade of C/SrA before they are eligible to take the exam to join Alpha Flight.

2. To join Alpha Flight, Bravo & Charlie Flight cadets must complete the following tasks. These tasks will be tracked by their flight staff, and are as follows:

a. Uniform: Should score a 6-10 (Excellent rating) on their uniform inspection.
b. Uniform Knowledge: Must have knowledge of (All details found in CAPM 39-1)
      i. The BDU uniform
      ii. The Service Uniform (Dress Blues)
      iii. Knowledge of male and female grooming standards
      iv. Knowledge of patches and devices common in Squadron 44
c. Drill: Knowledge of drill movements learned in Bravo or Charlie Flight and the CBT (Tango) Flight in addition to the commands outlined below.
d. Customs and Courtesies: must know the salute, the foundation of customs and courtesies, coming to attention, reporting to an officer and honors to the colors.
e. SOP Knowledge: Will know the Civil Air Patrol chain of command and will be able to identify elements of the SOP.
f. Memory Work: Must have memorized the Cadet Oath, The Honor Code, The Core Values and the Definition of Leadership

3. After completion of all of these items, on the following First Monday meeting of a month, the Bravo or Charlie Flight cadet(s) who successfully passed all the requirements listed above will be integrated into Alpha Flight.

4. The Bravo or Charlie Flight Commanders will notify the Alpha Flight Commander at least one week in advance of transitioning cadets.

BRAVO, CHARLIE & DELTA (BYRON) FLIGHTS

FLIGHT ENTRY AND EXPECTATIONS

1. All cadets in B, C or D Flight will have completed the Tango Cadet Basic Training program in its entirety, and will hold the grade of C/Amn.

2. A B, C or D Flight Cadet should meet these requirements:

a. Cadets will be expected to score a 4-5 (Satisfactory rating) on their uniform inspection (Inspection sheet and standards reference and found in the CAPP 52-15).
b. Cadets will learn the drill movements outlined below.

3. Cadets will know the Cadet Honor Code, Definition of Leadership, CAP Core Values, Squadron’s Chain of Command, and be able to quickly find an item within the contents of the Squadron 44 SOP.

TANGO (CADET BASIC TRAINING) FLIGHT

TANGO FLIGHT GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

1. All cadets in Tango Flight must complete the Cadet Basic Training (CBT) program in its entirety. These requirements include the following:

- 100% Attendance during 8-week Cadet Basic Training (CBT) program
- Successfully pass the Leadership Chapter 1 Exam (80% or better)
- Successfully pass the Drill Test (73% or better)
- Successfully pass the Cadet Physical Fitness Test (CPFT)
- Successfully recite the Cadet Oath from memory (100% accuracy)
- Obtain a complete CAP uniform and wear it properly (see CAPM 39-1)
- Attend the mandatory Character Development "Wingman Course"
- Complete the "OPSEC" training online via eServices
-Set up their @cawgcap.org email address and register it in eServices
