Squadron 44 is pleased to announce that Lt Col Frank Opelski, a 32-year veteran of the Civil Air Patrol, will be finishing his term as the Squadron Commander and passing this important leadership role to Maj Tim Albert.

In conjunction with Squadron 44's 2017 Annual Awards Dinner, this Change of Command ceremony will see Lt Col Opelski turning over command to Maj Albert, who has been a CAP and Sq44 member for 10 years. Lt Col Opelski has been in command during some of the most significant growth years for Sq44. And, after 32 years of CAP service, he deserves some much-needed time off.

Maj Albert, who has served as the Deputy Commander for Cadets since 2011, has guided the Cadet unit growth from 28 Cadets to 78, making it the largest Cadet unit in the Pacific Region. In addition, the Cadet Program was recognized with three Quality Cadet Unit Awards as well as receiving the Region Squadron of Distinction award.

Maj Albert will be joined by an experienced Deputy Commander for Seniors, Maj Chris Suter, as well as a newcomer to the Command team, Deputy Commander for Cadets, Capt Eric Meinbress.

Squadron 44 wishes the best to both the outgoing and incoming Command personnel.
